Look Up Pickens County Inmate Records

Pickens County inmate records for the local jail are searched through the sheriff's current roster and 48-hour release view. A Pickens County jail roster search can show booking photos, booking numbers, dates, charges, bonds, and arresting agencies for people listed by the detention center. Sentenced state prisoners, federal prisoners, and immigration detainees use separate locators, so the best lookup path depends on whether the person is in county jail, state prison, federal custody, or civil immigration detention.

Pickens County Jail Roster Overview

The official Pickens County Detention Center roster landing page is the first stop for county jail inmate records. Sheriff Jordan Powell's office runs the local sheriff site that hosts the roster. It splits the lookup into two public views: current inmates and 48-hour releases. The current roster is for people held at the Pickens County Detention Center now. The release view is for people who left the detention center during the previous 48 hours. Both are free and do not require a login.

The roster is a jail record, not a complete criminal history. It can show booking charges, booking date, bond, arresting agency, and a mugshot, but formal court charges may change after court appearances. The sample profile inspected during research specifically warned that bail and charges may not be current and told bond companies or people posting bail to call detention center staff for the correct bail amount, charges, and case numbers.

The current Pickens County roster shows the public search tools and the visible booking summaries used for inmate record lookup.

The roster capture shows why the county record is most useful at the booking stage: it combines search filters, mugshots, booking numbers, charge text, and bond summaries in one public view.

Use the Pickens County Inmate Roster

The search process is simple, but it works best when the user keeps the custody system straight. Start with the sheriff roster for local jail custody. If the person is not found, check the release list, then call the jail, then move to ADOC, BOP, or ICE depending on the case. Do not assume a person in FCI Aliceville or ADOC custody will appear on the Pickens County jail roster.

  1. Open the sheriff's roster landing page and choose current inmates or 48-hour release.
  2. Use the Name, Date, Current, or Released links if a different view is needed.
  3. Try the A-Z filters when the last name spelling is known.
  4. Use the Search By Name box with either first or last name.
  5. Open View Profile for booking number, booking date, age, gender, race, arresting agency, charges, bond, and mugshot.
  6. Call 205-367-2000 if the record is missing or the bond, charges, or case number matter.

Pickens County Roster Search Fields

The Pickens County roster does not use an advanced form. The public search tools are name entry, status links, alphabet filters, and pagination. A booking number appears on inmate profiles, but the inspected roster did not show a separate public booking-number search field.

Pickens County Inmate Profile Fields

A profile is the best public view of a Pickens County inmate record because it adds more detail than the roster summary. The inspected sample profile showed the photo, booking number, demographics, arresting agency, charge text, booking date, bond, and a warning to call staff for current bail and case data. It did not show DOB, housing unit, warrant number, court date, judge, or case number.

The sample Pickens County roster profile captured in the manifest shows the public field layout for a single booking record.

The profile view is also where the roster's most important warning appears: bond and charge details can change after court appearances.

Current and Released Pickens County Inmates

The current roster covers people who are presently listed at the Pickens County Detention Center. The 48-hour release roster covers people released during the prior two days. That second view is important in Pickens County because a fast bond, court release, outside-agency pickup, or transfer can remove a person from the current list before family members finish searching.

The 48-hour release roster is a narrow fallback, not a long-term archive. If a person was released earlier than that, call the jail or use the formal records-request route. For court results after release, search Alacourt or contact the clerk. For a state-prison transfer, search ADOC by AIS or name.

Pickens County Charges and Bonds

Roster charges are booking-stage labels. They help identify why the person was booked, but they are not the final word on what the prosecutor files in court. The 24th Judicial Circuit District Attorney handles felony and many misdemeanor prosecutions for Fayette, Lamar, and Pickens counties. Once formal court charges are filed, court records become the better source for case status, filings, and dispositions.

Bond data on the roster is also preliminary. Inspected roster results showed no-bond entries and dollar amounts, but the profile warning says bail amounts and charges may change after court appearances. It also tells bond companies and anyone posting bail to contact detention center staff at 205-367-2000 for the correct bail amount, charges, and case numbers. A hold for another agency can block release even when one charge has a bond value.

Bond or Hold TermHow to Read It
Cash bondConfirm payment amount and accepted method with the jail before travel.
Surety bondBond companies should verify bail, charges, and case numbers with jail staff.
No bondThe roster does not show a payable bond; court or jail confirmation is needed.
Outside-agency holdAnother jurisdiction or agency may block release even when local bond is addressed.

Pickens County Jail Facilities

Pickens County has two detention facilities in the project Facility Map, but only one is the local county jail. The Pickens County Detention Center is the sheriff-operated facility for local jail inmate records. Federal Correctional Institution Aliceville is a federal prison for sentenced female federal offenders. The Alabama Department of Corrections facility list did not show a state prison in Pickens County.

Mail and Money for Pickens County Inmates

The research did not locate an official Pickens County jail mail address format, commissary vendor, deposit vendor, phone provider, video provider, tablet program, or local money-fee schedule on the sheriff pages inspected. Do not import vendor claims from unofficial directories. The practical step is to call the detention center before mailing property, arranging funds, or setting up calls.

State prisoners are different. ADOC uses Access Secure Deposits for money and changed personal mail to digital tablet delivery in 2025, with a processing address in San Antonio for personal mail. Federal prisoners are different again. BOP states that money should not be sent to FCI Aliceville's facility address, and mailed funds for federal inmates go through a processing center in Des Moines, Iowa.

Note: Confirm custody status with the correct jail, state, or federal agency before sending money, mail, or visit requests.

If a Pickens County Inmate Is Missing

A missing roster result does not always mean there was no arrest. The booking may be too new, the name may be spelled differently, the person may have been released within 48 hours, or the person may have moved to another custody system. The sheriff contact page also warns that plain-text email is not secure and is not monitored 24 hours a day, so time-sensitive custody questions should go to the office phone.

  • Search by first name and last name separately.
  • Check the Date sort for newer bookings.
  • Open the 48-hour release roster.
  • Call 205-367-2000 for current custody, bail, charges, and case numbers.
  • Search ADOC for sentenced Alabama prisoners.
  • Search BOP for federal prisoners and ICE for immigration custody.

State Federal and ICE Lookup

The ADOC inmate search covers current Alabama state prisoners only. It accepts an AIS number, first name, and last name, with AIS taking priority. The BOP inmate locator covers federal inmates from 1982 to present and supports number or name searches. FCI Aliceville is searched through BOP, not the Pickens sheriff roster.

Immigration custody requires extra care because ICE records document a Pickens County Detention Center inspection and an IGSA contract. A person in ICE civil detention may be physically tied to the county jail yet still need the ICE Online Detainee Locator or ICE detention reporting channel. ICE custody does not create a public federal mugshot gallery, and ICE advises visitors to confirm hours and restrictions before travel.
